Apollo's Journey

Post by ColoradoHorseRescue »

Born into goodness… in February of 2011, Colorado Horse Rescue’s Vet surprised us with the news of Apollo, a new baby already kicking in his mother’s belly. Phoenix, his mother had recently been rescued by CHR along with five other horses from a trail riding and breeding facility. The establishment felt forced to downsize due to a decline in business. Phoenix carrying baby Apollo arrived at the Rescue with her two daughters and in May of 2011 she delivered baby Apollo. During the next weeks and months our larger CHR community could visit the website and watch Apollo explore his new world on webcam.

It is a beautiful sight to gaze upon a colt discovering their legs for the very first time. Spontaneously kicking in every direction, Apollo learned how useful and entertaining his legs were in expressing his excitement. Having been properly and lovingly handled each and every each day at CHR, Apollo grew into an extremely kind colt, very manageable, and a mellow companion to other horses. In October of 2013, Apollo was adopted by an individual who serves as the parent organization for Horses Mending Hearts, where he continues to receive training and will one day join his older counterparts in helping humans to heal.

To help other horses like Phoenix and Apollo, donate at http://www.chr.org. ~ Shawna English, Adoption and Training Coordinator at Colorado Horse Rescue.
