It's Tough to Be Short and Female

Sometimes one of the hardest things about being a rescue horse is that nobody knows much about you. No paper trail to provide lineage; no breeder records; no association network; and no documentation of any sort. All you have to go on is your looks and personality. Unfortunately, if you are younger, older, female, or short, it’s a lot harder to find you a home.
Meet Simee: she is about 8 years old, female, and about 13.3 hands tall.

In April of 2016, Emerald Valley Equine Assistance Horse rescue got a call from the local Animal Control officer about 5 horses that were way out in the country that kept ending up at large. A dangerous situation for everyone. When Sandy and Emily arrived to get the horses, they found them in a make shift round pen created from wood pallets and wire with a broken metal gate. Inside the pen was an older stallion, a yearling, a mare with a 3 month-old colt, and Simee. Sandy and Emily quickly realized that none of the horses were halter broke. After 4 hours, they finally got haltered and had a quick leading lesson. After another 45 mins they got them loaded into 2 trailers.

Initially, the horses went to EVEAH for evaluation and health care. Simee then went to Emily’s for more training. She is now able to be ridden by kids in the lesson program Emily offers. Simee has come a long way in a few months! She has a great personality and is learning trust and enjoy people. Why hasn’t she found a home yet? She is short, has no papers of any sort, has no show record yet… At this point, she is just a talented, nice, little horse/pony with tons of potential. Simee is located in the Eugene, Oregon area. If you know anyone who might be interested in her contact Sandy at eveahr@earthlink.net.
