Hi everyone,
I will be heading west late in May for a 3 week photo trip. I will be arriving in Salt lake City and then heading to Grand Teton, Wapiti, Cody, Yellowstone and Boseman then back to Grand Teton and Salt Lake City. Can anyone give me an idea of where some of the better places would be to photograph mustangs. I know Pryor Mt. doesn't open till mid june so that would be out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Dennis

Do a Google search on Wild Horse Herd Management Areas (HMA). The BLM is rounding them up in such quantity, there won't be many in any of the areas by next May, so they may be really hard to find. www.thecloudfoundation.org for more info on the removals.

Dennis,
There is also a small herd of wild horses in the McCollough Peaks area near Cody. Roads lead into the Peaks from the Greybull Hwy going east out of Cody.
You are aware that many of the roads into Yellowstone and Teton Parks are closed in the winter, right? You can check the National Parks website for details.

Dennis,
Yellowstone Park roads are usually open by the first week of May, but CAN be later depending on snowfall.

Dennis;
The local BLM offices are also a good source of information. They have always gone out of their way to be helpful. Ask for their horse expert.
Good luck, Mark

Just south of Jackson WY, between Rock Springs, WY and Farson, WY (off 191) there are a few heards that are easy to spot and fun to shoot (pics......). They don't seem to be to bothered by people but will move away from you if you get to close. They are beautiful, and lots of different coat colors for some amazing pics. Have fun!

I am not sure of the type of horses but there is a place just of the western shore of Nova scotia called Sable Island. It is full of wild horses. Just check online for it . I know it has been on the news here in Nova Scotia for many years. Hope this helps you.

Hi Theresa:
Here is a link to the work of Photographer Roberto Dutesco and his images of the Wild Horses of Sable Island. http://www.dutescoart.com/exhibits/here ... orses.html.
Saw these images last winter with a fellow EPN member; they are really wonderful and inspiring when you have the winter blahs.
