Re: Whispering Hope: The Sad Tale of a Dying Soul
He would nicker whenever somone approached him. He was such a sweet old man. Ziggy fought for his life for two (2) weeks. On the morning of July 2, 2009, Ziggy laid down for the last time. We were all hoping for a happy ending, as we began to write down his story, but things don't always turn out that way. :-( The necropsy revealed that he died of starvation. His owner, I believe is still in jail.

That was utterly heartbreaking - I cannot understand people commiting such cruelty, but I know it happens all too often, in many ways sadly.

It is heartbreaking, Ziggy's story. They ask for so little, and receive even less. All the contributions to this project are wonderfully done, but yours really stands out. Thank you for doing this story.

Thanks Diana... It wasn't supposed to be a sad story, but I can see from your responses here that Ziggy is being remembered in more ways than I expected. :-) Thanks for being so compassionate.

Re: Whispering Hope: The Sad Tale of a Dying Soul
I wish I could do more, take more action. Ziggy represents all the horses who never stood a chance, don't stand a chance now, but someday maybe, by the grace of God, will stand a better chance than those who went before them. Time and physical limitations did not allow me to participate in this project, but maybe it should be repeated in the future. Thanks for being so compassionate.

Re: Whispering Hope: The Sad Tale of a Dying Soul
Diana, I think I read that this would be a yearly effort? Maybe next time you could partake. I missed out on the deadline this time round too, due to illness, but I see that it has now been extended to Sept 1st, so today I am off to my local rescue who took in another three horses last night, hopefully I can get something together this week and submit it in time. I so want to try, I know how you feel. Sues.

You're right, Sues. I read the main thread after I posted. Unfortunately, I'm sure there won't be a shortage of subjects out there.I think I read that this would be a yearly effort
