Horses of Tir Na Nog - Follow Up

Post by delikatd »

I’m happy to provide a follow-up report on the story of the three horses rescued by the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services in October 2011 and brought to the Horses of Tir Na Nog equine sanctuary. All three horses have gained weight and responded very well to the loving care provided by the volunteers and veterinarians. There is some sad news along with the good. Diamond lost her foal, but continues to adjust. She is a beautiful thoroughbred.

The horses formerly known as the Three Gems have now been dubbed the Three Sisters and they have all been sponsored by the same donor! The donor’s two sisters passed away this past year and she thought there could be no greater tribute to them then to sponsor these girls and name them in her sisters’ honor. At Horses of Tir Na Nog, a horse’s first sponsor has the privilege of naming the horse. Diamond is now named Edith’s Diamond. The gray mare is Edna’s Pearl and the chestnut mare is now Betty’s Amber named after the sponsor.

These photographs were taken 5 weeks after the original story’s photographs. Diamond, Pearl and Amber continue to improve and adjust.

All of the horses at Horses of Tir Na Nog are walking, prancing, running examples of the kind of miracles that can be accomplished by people who care and are committed to saving them and providing a happy, healthy, forever home.

Edna Pearl is no "Old Gray Mare". She is beautiful inside and out.

I may be mistaken, but I do believe that Pearl is smiling. She knows that she is home at last!

Amber prances at liberty knowing she and her friends have found safety and love in their forever home.
